Week 3......we survived....ha ha

Hello everyone, Again thanks for all the best wishes and support. I was able to sit at home with Brooklyn and Chris last week and watch the World Championships for track and field. They were in Berlin, Germany and man was it exciting. This was the place that Jesse Owens conquered and won 4 Gold Olympic Medals. Looking at the Jamaicans I would have to agree with lots of others that they did it again and walked away with so many victories. Yes the USA did well too but I was most amazed with Usain Bolt and his two world records. This guy is fast!!!!! I really liked when the mascot for the World Championships attempted to race him.....that was so funny. Speaking of the mascot did anyone check out his fall with the winner in the women's 400 hurdles? ha ha...check it out on you tube (type in Melanie walker-Berlin) So hopefully you all were able to watch and if not feel free to check out www.iaaf.org for the results. As we watched there were many ups and downs of the meet. I was glad that the women's 4x400 team won gold and they all did a great job. I hoped that I was missed by my teammates. We are now in week 3 and it has been an amazing, interesting journey. Brooklyn has been an active little baby. She loves to look at us in our eyes and we have even seen a smile while she sleeps. She isn't always a little angel though ha ha but we have been saved by the best DVD in the world, which is called Happiest Baby on the Block. So for now our little nick name for Brooklyn is Pikachu. How did we come up with that.....good question. But Chris gets the credit for this one. He always would look at her and say, "Look at you!", so it sort of came out as a rhyme. Look at you, look at you Pikachu!!!! I almost forgot....Brooklyn got her first scholarship offer and also made the Cincinnati Enquirer and the Springfield News Sun. She already is becoming a star. I want to thank Coach Bill Schnier for writing her such a lovely letter and we will be sure to include it in her scrapbook. So...see you all soon.

Brooklyn Is Finally Here!!!!

Hello,
Thanks to everyone who has kept up with my blog these last nine months. Children in general are such blessings and I look forward to seeing our little Brooklyn grow into a wonderful young lady. So here are the details. on August 2nd I started to feel really bad contractions so I knew that the time was near. Brooklyn's due date was estimated at July 28, 2009. So we all see that she wasn't quite ready yet! HA HA
I went to the hospital and surprisingly my friend also went to the hospital that same day. Yes, wow two friends pregnant/ and maybe delivering together!!! I would deliver a girl while she would a boy....After being registered in at Good Sam Hospital I was both nervous and excited. The day had finally come and I would soon see Brooklyn's face. All I could say is Thank you Jesus, thank you for blessing me.
She was born August 3rd, 2009 at 9:35am, weighed 7lbs 7 ounces and was 21 inches long (great long legs for running)! The moment we saw her face, Chris and I were so delighted. Not only was our baby girl precious but Beautiful. The first words that came to my mouth as she came out into the world, was "Babe she is beautiful". Tears formed in my eyes and I couldn't wait to hold her. My mom was there during the delivery and this was an exciting time for her to meet her granddaughter. I was happy the delivery was over, now to spend time with Brooklyn.
I will be updating with stories of how family life is going with us; the sleepless nights, seeing the changes occur in her daily, driving with her in the car, feeding her and even bath time. I can't wait, parenthood here we come!!!
So all in all things are great
